Paddle Canada “Introduction to Kayak” Instructor

Description:

Now it is time to share your love of paddling with others! Learn to teach sea kayaking on calm sheltered waters. This course is perfect if you want to work for camps, youth groups, resorts or similar.

We introduce the basics of group management in sheltered waters, organizing and presenting effective on-water lessons, detecting and correcting common challenges with strokes and rescues, and providing meaningful feedback to students.

Expected Outcome:

You will be able to confidently teach an introductory kayak course, as well as paddle with grace on calm sheltered waters. You will receive your Paddle Canada “Introduction to Kayak” Instructor certificate.

Instructor-Candidates usually own their own gear. However, kayak and related gear is available for rent for 25% off during this course.

Candidates need to register with Paddle Canada before the first day of the program – it will cost either $10 or $80, depending on your current Paddle Canada membership level.

Prerequisites:

At least 16 years of age.

Paddle Canada Sea Kayaking Level-1 Skills certification, or equivalent.

Current certification in Standard First Aid with CPR. (8 hours).
