Paddle Canada Flatwater Paddleboard (SUP) Instructor
Description:
Learn to teach others the wonders of SUP! The Paddle Canada Flatwater Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor course is the Canadian certification standard. Learning styles, teaching techniques, and practice teaching sessions are emphasized. We introduce the basics of group management, organizing and presenting effective on-water lessons, detecting and correcting common challenges with strokes and rescues, and providing meaningful feedback to students.
Expected Outcome:
Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will be able to instruct the Paddle Canada Flatwater Paddleboard programs, self-rescue and tow with confidence, paddle gracefully in windy and wavy conditions, plan and execute lessons with clear objectives and learning outcomes, and demonstrate good judgment in group management, safety and weather. You will receive a Paddle Canada Flatwater SUP Instructor certificate.
Notes:
Instructor-Candidates usually own their own gear. However, board and related gear is available for rent for 25% off during this course.
Candidates need to register with Paddle Canada before the first day of the program – it will cost either $10 or $80, depending on your current Paddle Canada membership level.
Paddle Canada offers two different Flatwater Instructor certifications - the "Intro" and the "Advanced."
